achieved by the gases produced through rapid, confined burning of a
propellant. This process of rapid burning is technically known as
deflagration. In older firearms, this propellant was typically black powder,
but modern firearms use smokeless powder, cordite, or other propellants.
Most modern firearms (with the notable exception of smoothbore shotguns)
have rifled barrels to impart spin to the projectile for improved flight

technology supporters. The group includes gun crime victims, industry
representatives, law enforcement, public officials, public policy experts,
and more. They are working together to pass legislation to make ammunition
coding technology a reality. Ammunition coding technology works by laser
etching the back of each bullet with an alpha-numeric serial number. Then
when a potential criminal purchases a box of 9mm cartridges, the box of
ammunition and the bullets’ coding numbers would be connected to the
purchaser in a statewide database. When a bullet is found at a crime scene,
the code on the bullet can be read with a simple magnifying glass and then
be run through a statewide database to determine who purchased the
ammunition and where, providing a valuable investigative lead.

... The Steel Challenge is a speed shooting championship and
governed by the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA). The competition
was founded by Mike Dalton and Mike Fichman. The targets, made of steel,
range in size from 10" round plates to 18"x24" square plates. The match is
held every year in Piru, California and draws shooters from around the
world. The Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships have grown to
one of the largest professional pistol competitions in America. Competitors
are scored based solely on the time it takes them to shoot each stage. The
last target that is shot is known as the "stop plate", which
stops the timer. All primary target hits made after the stop plate has been
struck, will be scored with a 3 second penalty each. The maximum time
permitted for a run is 30 seconds and a competitor will be stopped and asked
to reload if they reach the 30 second limit. Each competitor shoots each
stage five times, with their slowest run dropped, excluding the stage Outer
Limits where only four runs are shot and the top three counted. The
competitor's best four out of five runs are totaled for their stage score
and the eight stage scores are added together to establish the competitor's
match score. The winner is the competitor with the lowest overall time.

it's a local, annual, state, regional or higher this program does it all.
You can score by total time or rank points depending on what your club
prefers. Match results are easy to compute in a very short period of time.
Match registration and posse assignments are easy to do also. The program
has many useful detailed reports to choose from. You can print ID badges,
dinner tickets, confirmation letters, ribbon labels, reports showing top
shooters, regional winners, side match results, personal and stage score
cards and even track vendors' information.

... The Umpqua “Regulators” is a SASS (Single Action Shooting
Society) affiliated Cowboy Action Shooting Club.
The club shoots a five-stage match on the 4th Sunday of each month. Set-up
starts around 8:00 A.M. at the outdoor Pistol Range called “Bullet Butte”.
The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, "Old West"
style. It is a timed sport in which shooters compete for prestige on a
course of different shooting stages.
